Vickie Ann Upchurch, 59, passed on January 13th, 2024, and will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her surviving family: her three daughters Amanda, Janel, and Taylor; her 11 grandchildren Autumn, Jason, Arianna, Jacob, Ava, Jaxson, Jayla, Grayson, Hunter, Santiago, and Roman; her grand pups Daisy and Carson. In addition to her daughters and grandchildren, she is survived by her former husband, Curtis Upchurch Jr, her current spouse, John Simmons, her soul sister, Cindy Schmincke, and many other family and friends. She is predeceased by her sister, Kimberly Anders, mother Barbara Jean; her father, Carl "Sonny" Anders; and Aunt Pauline Bryant. To think of the words to describe the woman that Vickie was is almost impossible. She lived determined to care for her family and ensure their happiness first. Anyone who knew Vickie can testify to her caring, compassionate, and loving personality. She was deeply determined and took great care to show everyone grace and compassion, especially her family. She never neglected to express her gratitude for the blessings she had in her life, such as spending time with her grandchildren, being there for her daughters to provide her support and advice, or catching up with her dear friends. She worked hard as a paralegal handling environmental law at Aberdeen Proving Ground for over 40 years; she was a delightful and talented coworker, proving her loyalty to her career daily. All her loved ones will remember her as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend to those blessed to meet her.
Her viewing will be held at Evan’s Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services in Forest Hill, Maryland, on January 22nd, 4 to 7:30 pm with service to follow. We welcome all to join us in honoring and celebrating the life of the beautiful woman Vickie Ann Upchurch.
“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;- Ecclesiastes 3:1-4
