On Saturday, June 1, 2024, the Evans/Griffin family lost their hero. Joseph David Evans, Sr., 63, passed away in Middle River, Maryland.
Joe was born in Essex, Maryland on January 25, 1961. From early on, he was the best dad to his two children, Jessica and Joe Jr. Later, he would go on to love his cat, Bree. Joe worked for Mars Supermarkets as a manager for over forty years before recently retiring from there. Since retiring, he enjoyed fishing, playing cards and was the 3x fantasy football champion with his friends and family.
Joe is survived by his daughter Jessica Griffin, son in law Christian, and their daughter Alysa Kaptain, son Torin Griffin. Joe Jr., daughter in law Melissa and their two sons, Everett and Briggs. Joe was a family man and cherished time watching his children and grandchildren growing up to be successful. He leaves behind his brothers and sisters: John (Beverly), Jim (Teresa), Joan (Steve), Jean (Drew), and his identical twin brother Jack (Teresa). He is predeceased by his mother Gloria Mae Evans (nee Engle) and father, John Evans. His cherished friends: Andersan, Mark H, Mark R, and Ron.
Friends and members of the community are asked in lieu of flowers to make a charitable donation to the Wise Avenue Volunteer Fire Company for the train station at the holidays in his name. A celebration of life will be had at a later date.
